Does anyone have any info regarding the crates because I saw this:

A military helicopter flew low over Lumber Mall and dropped a supply crate. (1 hour and 34 minutes ago)

And I was wanting to know what effect these crates have or what their purpose is.

I have a character spending its time between Osmondville and Penny Heights.  It happened upon one such crate yesterday and got a DNA extractor and a couple of syringes from it.

you get random generally useful items from crates when you are a survivor.
as you can get several items you better drop all junk before go and open a crate.
(not worth using crate as zombie zombies just get a little exp by destroying the crate because they prevent survivors to get it).
